The Memory of a Dance

Written in 1976 for the flautist Atarah Ben-Tovim and, probably, the guitarist, John Harper. She asked for a piece, which Duarte wrote for alto flute and guitar, but just at the point when the composition was finished, she gave up playing with a guitarist. The music then lay around until 1979 when the Finnish flautist, Ilari Lehtinen, adapted the score for the C-flute and made the various changes needed.
