Duarte was a friend of many of the 20th century's most famous guitarists, including Segovia, John Williams, Ida Presti, Alirio Diaz and Sharon Isbin. His original works have featured on GRAMMY Award-winning recordings and you can view here a comprehensive discography, list of works and a biography.

Little Suite No. 2 Op. 79 for Three Guitars was written for the 1979 Cannington International Guitar Summer School, Somerset, England, of which Duarte was the course director for 20 years (1973-1993). Three of its four short movements, Waltz, Pastorale, Musette and Finale are in classical dance forms and all are thematically related to each other.
