Sonatina

Written in 1950 for Duarte to play with Joanna Miguel, a flautist from Manchester, although later notes say the flautist's name was Joan Levy. It is dedicated to the Duo Logel-Santos and was first printed in 'Guitar Review', 1950 (No.14). Duarte and Miguel played the Sonatina to Segovia at a party after his concert in Sheffield. The music is in a single movement.

I was contacted by Gianluca Nicolini and Fabrizio Giudice (Duo Novecento) in 2024 enquiring about the two editions of this Sonatina. There were many differences between the two scores, some of them obvious misprints and others which were worked out by closely studying the music. This file represents what we think are the best solutions, having compared both editions.

I am very grateful to both musicians for their help.

Here is a link to a 'house-recording', made by the duo, using the new version of the music.
