Un Petit Jazz
Written in 1982 for John Turner (Recorders) and Neil Smith (Guitar) to whom the music is also dedicated. The title was unwittingly supplied by the French guitarist, Ida Presti, who, when she visited Duarte's home, often said, 'Jacques, joue un petit jazz pour nous'. The four movements depict four different jazz styless - a Brubeck-like waltz, blues, song and boogie-woogie. The printed edition is presented for flute and guitar but a mixture of recorders is also viable, as is violin.
