Suite Ancienne

Written in 1969 for the Argentinean, later Spanish, guitarist, Ernesto Bitetti. The music, although labelled Suite, is really a set of variations on the Premiere Bransle Gay from Pierre Phalèse's 'Premier Livre de Danseries', 1571. Duarte has fashioned a Baroque Suite, minus an Allemande, from this simple theme. The manuscript, received in November 2022 from the Fundación Andrés Segovia, is headed Op.40! The errors in the score were only discovered after the 2019 recording by Nicola Montella.
