Sonatina

Written in 1958 for John Williams, it remained unpublished until a visit from the Japanese guitarist, Jiro Matsuda. Matsuda asked if Duarte had anything unpublished and Duarte produced the Sonatina. Matsuda thought that Duarte was dedicating the piece to him and took it for publishing in Japan. Regrettably, the publisher didn't honour its side of the agreement.

At some point in 1960 Duarte rewrote sections for Andrés Segovia and there exist up to four different versions of some sections.
