Prelude, Canto and Toccata
Written in 1968 for the Gibraltar-based guitarist, William Gomez. Gomez said, 'Write what you like', but he was also a very conservative musician, and the modern style of what Duarte wrote didn't appeal to him. He never played the piece, but did write to Duarte asking for something more like English Suite Op.31. Nothing else was forthcoming. The first movement is based on an Indian Raga, the second movement is twelve-note and the third movement is bitonal.
