Miniature Suite

Written in 1948 and dedicated to Maurice Ashurst, Secretary of the Liverpool Spanish Circle. The Suite was written in less than two hours and was the first work by Duarte to be commercially recorded (by Laurindo Almeida). In a letter to Vahdah Olcott-Bickford (20 December 1951) Duarte said, 'The Miniature Suite is my personal favourite amongst my pieces for guitar solo, especially the Cradle Song.' The composition of the whole Suite took c. 5 hours.
