In Honorem Ioanni Doulandi

Written in 1984 for the Canadian guitarist, Alan Rinehart, to whom the music is also dedicated. Rinehart was a lutenist as well and Duarte decided to combine his love for the lute and the music of John Dowland by writing a set of variations on Dowland's Melancholy Galliard. One or two other of Dowland's works are also quoted.  This composition was commissioned by Mrs Sylvia Ury.
