Centone di Sonate IV - Paganini/Duarte
Written between 1975-77, these are re-compositions of three Sonatas by Niccolò Paganni. Segovia phoned Duarte to say that he had been asked to play the original Sonatas with the Italian violinist, Ruggero Ricci, in New York and would Duarte rewrite the guitar parts to make them more equal with the violin. Duarte's rewritings were so extensive that he decided to give them an opus number. Segovia never played the works with Ricci. The music is dedicated 'To Paganini - if he is listening'.
